Donnelly - LaMear Trailhead

Visit the Donnelly – LaMear Trailhead for Hiking, Biking, Walking, and ATV/ORV/UTV RIDING! The entrance is open Thursday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. There is lots of parking, restrooms, and brand-new terrain to explore. St. Joe State Park

Today, the 8,238-acre St. Joe State Park is Missouri's third largest state park, with approximately 2,000 acres set aside for the state's premier off-road vehicle (ORV) riding area. Contact the park office at (573) 431-1069 for more information about the special rules and regulations that apply.

Missouri Mines State Historic Site

The historic mill buildings, where St. Joe Minerals once processed the lead ore, still stand nearby and have been designated as Missouri Mines State Historic Site. There you can enjoy an excellent mining museum featuring a large collection of geological specimens and antique mining and milling equipment.

Mineral Area College

Mineral Area College offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees to students throughout the area. The college offers student housing. Central Methodist University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis offer Bachelor's degrees at the M.A.C. campus.

The Mayor and eight (8) council members, two (2) from each of the four (4) wards, comprise the governing body for the city. In the event of the Mayor's absence, the President Pro Tempore* will preside over the council meeting. The council selects the President Pro Tempore at the beginning of each new term.

City Facts

Park Hills is a city in St. Francois County, Missouri. The population was 8,759 at the 2010 census.

The city was formed through an unique four-way merger, allowed by the Missouri legislature in January 1994. The residents of Flat River, Elvins, Esther and the village of Rivermines voted for consolidation into the new city of Park Hills to strengthen economic development.

United States Marine and WWII Medal of Honor recipient Darrell S. Cole was born July 20, 1920 in Flat River (now part of Park Hills), Missouri. He attended high school in Esther, Missouri (now part of Park Hills) graduating in 1938. The second USS Cole (DDG-67), an Arleigh Burke-class Aegis-equipped guided missile destroyer was named for Sergeant Cole.

There are many reasons to visit Park Hills, but one that continually attracts many people is Columbia Park. This beautiful park, located in the center of the city, includes a walking trail, several playgrounds, an 18-hole disc golf course, a public swimming pool, and an outdoor amphitheater where numerous concerts, featuring a variety of genres, are held each summer.
