City Warning System

City sirens sound only as a warning for residents outdoors to immediately take shelter: no siren sounds for a watch or an all-clear. If you are indoors during a storm, please tune your radio or television to a local station for warnings.

Siren tests are scheduled at 12:00 noon every Monday, weather permitting.

MessageSpring Notification System

The City now has a new notification system called MessageSpring. Residents, employees, business owners, or others interested in receiving important communications from the City can sign up to receive notifications via the MessageSpring App, SMS/Text Messaging, or Email.

Subscribers can choose to receive all notifications sent by the City or choose only the notifications that are of interest to them. Topics include:

  • EMERGENCIES (Road closings, water main breaks, weather announcements, etc.)

  • IMPORTANT NOTICES (Bulk pickup, employment opportunities, bids on projects, fire tags due, business license due, elections, etc.)

Park Hills Emergency Management Plan

Park Hills is exposed to diverse hazards, which have the potential for disrupting the community, causing damage, and creating casualties. Natural hazards include floods, fires, tornadoes, and severe storms. Park Hills also faces the threat of hazardous material accidents involving the transportation, manufacture, and storage of chemicals on the highways and in the city's industrial areas.

To address these potential threats, the Emergency Management Division maintains the city's emergency management plan. This plan provides the framework upon which the City of Park Hills prepares for, responds to, and performs its emergency response functions during times of natural or man-made disasters or national emergencies. The plan is based on phases of Emergency Management. Those phases are outlined below.

See activities which governments, organizations, and individuals develop to save lives and minimize damage. You can find information here about the new FEMA Flood Insurance Preferred Risk Policy. Read ready in three. Prepare an insurance inventory of your household.

Actions to minimize loss of life and property damage and provide emergency assistance.

Short and long-term activities which restore city operations and help return the community to a normal state.

Training & Resources

The Emergency Management Department also provides public education and training. They plan and hold training exercises with city departments and outside agencies. They advise the public through the media about the severity of the emergency and the response and recovery underway.
