Park Hills, MO – August 26, 2024 – The City of Park Hills is announcing the adoption of a new ordinance establishing regulations for special event permits.

This ordinance aims to streamline the process of organizing special events within the city, ensuring public safety and minimizing the impact on city services and the community.

The ordinance defines a "special event" as any outdoor gathering, activity, parade, or festival on public property or public right-of-way that requires city services beyond the norm, impacts traffic, involves more than 25 people, or includes the sale of food, beverages, or merchandise. To host such events, organizers must obtain a Special Event Permit from the City Council.

Applications for these permits must be submitted at least 45 days before the proposed event date and include detailed information about the event, such as the organizer's contact details, event description, site plan, and plans for parking and waste management. The City Council will approve permits based on criteria ensuring the event does not disrupt traffic, complies with city ordinances, and does not cause undue hardship to residents or businesses.

The ordinance also outlines fees for permit applications, which are $25 for events with fewer than 100 attendees and $50 for larger events. Additional fees may apply for city services required for the event.
