Notice to Park Hills Water Customers
Some Park Hills residents will be receiving a Service Line Notification letter in the mail this week. This letter is purely informational and is part of a federally required inventory process for water systems nationwide. No action is required at this time.
The notice explains how service line materials are categorized and provides general educational information about lead and galvanized lines. It does not indicate that your water is unsafe, nor does it mean your property has a confirmed issue.
To help answer common questions about these notices, here is some general guidance:
• Water is still considered safe to drink. Letting cold water run for 30 seconds can help reduce potential exposure if a faucet hasn’t been used for several hours.
• Infants, young children, and pregnant women are the most sensitive to lead exposure.
• Testing your water is optional and can be arranged through your local health department or water provider.
• The City is required by federal law to complete an inventory of service line materials, which is why these notices are being sent.
If you receive a letter, please know it is simply part of this mandated inventory process. No action is required unless you choose to explore your service line material on your own.
The City will continue to keep residents informed as this process moves forward.
