Park Hills Boys Hailed as Heroes for Their Bravery in Emergency

Park Hills, MO – March 12, 2024 – Two young residents of Park Hills, Owen, and Benton, have been recognized for their exceptional courage and quick thinking in a crisis. In November of 2023, after disembarking from their school bus, the boys arrived at their grandmother's house to find her unresponsive. In a remarkable display of composure and determination, they set out on foot to seek assistance.

Owen, who is autistic, made an extraordinary decision that day to step out of his comfort zone and lead the way in search of help. The brothers had intended to walk to their church, where they had activities planned for that evening, hoping to find someone there who could aid them. Their mother expressed immense pride in Owen for his ability to assess the situation and act accordingly, and in Benton for his willingness to follow his brother's lead.

The bravery of these young boys did not go unnoticed. At the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Park Hills Mayor Easter publicly commended Owen and Benton for their actions. The community is inspired by their story, which serves as a testament to the extraordinary things that can be achieved when we rise to the occasion, even at a young age.

The City of Park Hills celebrates the heroism of these two young citizens and extends its gratitude for their brave response in an emergency. Their actions undoubtedly made a significant difference that day and exemplify the strong spirit and resilience of our community.
