Please join us in commending Ms. Elisabeth Barrington. At a recent council meeting, Mayor Easter, as well as the rest of the council recognized Elisabeth for the recent completion of her Eagle Scout project.

Elisabeth was the VERY FIRST FEMALE in St. Francois County to receive the rank of Eagle Scout! We are honored that she chose Park Hills as part of her historical event and Haney Park as the focus of her project.

Elisabeth told the Daily Journal that she has had her project in mind from the very start of her scouting journey. Her project was to build and place 7 benches along the walking path at Haney Park. Elisabeth's Nana was an avid walker at Haney Park and the reason behind her project.

The benches were built by Elisabeth in an astounding amount of time - just under a month! She began the project on September 12, 2022, and all seven benches were installed at the park on September 25th. When walking the mile-long path, you will note that each bench has a silver dedication plaque displaying Elisabeth's name and the names of the sponsors that helped make her project possible.

Elisabeth was pinned and became an "official" Eagle Scout at a ceremony held by the Boy Scouts of America earlier this year.

Congratulations to you, Elisabeth! What you have accomplished is, by far, no small feat! We are so very proud of you and we thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey! As an Eagle Scout, there's no doubt you will continue to do incredible things in adulthood and in your community!
