The City of Park Hills is asking voters to renew the existing 0.25% sales tax that supports the Fire Department's operations and equipment needs. This renewal will continue the current funding mechanism approved by citizens in 2014.

The tax has enabled significant improvements since 2015, including the purchase of a Pierce Enforcer Pumper/Tanker in 2016 and crucial upgrades to firefighter safety equipment. Future plans include replacing the primary pumper truck and updating essential breathing apparatus units.

The Park Hills Fire Department currently maintains an ISO rating of 6 and serves 8,655 municipal residents plus approximately 6,000 rural residents from two engine houses. The department's 19 dedicated volunteer firefighters provide comprehensive services including:

  • Fire suppression and prevention
  • Emergency medical response
  • Vehicle accident assistance
  • Off-road rescue operations
  • Hazardous material response

The renewal will ensure continued funding for modern emergency apparatus, up-to-date gear and training, and comprehensive emergency response capabilities.
